Slow-moving slimes may not seem like much of a challenge, but if you stumble across a good-sized bunch, things can take a turn quickly. Not only do they do a surprising amount of damage, but if you die, you’ll also need to head back to that area to reclaim just about everything you had in your pack (only equipment and whatever was in your quickbar will respawn with you).
Copper Ore is mined from The Undergrounds' walls that sparkle in the darkness. Plenty of wood is also required, from exploration and/or farming roots.
That might mean having to gather more resources just to fight your way back in and recover your property.
The first time I saw glowing red eyes blinking in the dark in one of the more Core Keeper Gameplay distant biomes I got so panicked I wound up swinging a berry pudding I had in my inventory instead of my sword. Tunneling into any new area, surrounded by pitch-black darkness and only clearing a path wide enough for yourself can be creepy and claustrophobic.
Even if we’ve seen these ideas before in other games, this is still the kind of meandering sandbox that I can enjoy losing myself in.
But beating bosses also drops good items, unlocks gear, weapons and other things that make it easier to explore and deal with randomly spawned enemies; the statues also act like a crafting workbench, each offering up 3 additional items to craft. Crafting and Items[edit]
Standard type character is strongly recommended over hardcore, for all players. It is also recommended that new players start in a normal mode world. Hard mode currently doubles the health and damage of all enemies and bosses, for little to pelo pay-off.
